GRADING MONDAY 29th JUNE 2009

After a few delays in arranging a grading, Master Black 7th Degree kindly
agreed to come to Totnes to examine the nine students on what was a
thoroughly hot summer's evening. Our training area is normally quite warm
in the summer, but with full uniforms on and even sparring kit, it felt like a sauna!
We had a large group up for grading as well with a large influx of new students
to the school in recent weeks. Debbie Miller-Wright was on hand to give
demonstrations for the white belts, and Marianne Malin decided to participate in
the grading for a bit of extra training now that she's returned back to training from
time off for an injury (Blue belts and above must wait six months in between
gradings).

The achievements are as follows:-

RED BELT

BLACK BELT PRE-GRADING - SATURDAY 27th JUNE 2009

Debbie Miller-Wright was invited by Master Black 7th Degree to attend
the pre-grading for black belt grading (in October 2009) at her last grading
back in March. She travelled up to Swindon to the Oasis Leisure Centre to
display her technique from all the previous belts syllabus in padwork with other
kickboxers in front of a panel of examiners for just over half an hour, and
rewarded her good efforts with a swim in the pool afterwards! Also, Tim Levy,
who crosstrains in Tae Kwon Do as well, was at Swindon for his pre-grading
in black belt. Both students have passed, and now will have a lot of work to do
to prepare for October. Congratulations to both Debbie and Tim and best of
luck for the grading!

SOUTHERN CHAMPIONSHIPS - SUNDAY 21st JUNE 2009

Three students from Totnes took part in the Southern Championships,
which were--luckily for us--held at Clennon Valley Leisure Centre in Paignton.
All had entered the Adult Coloured-Belt Sparring: Debbie Miller-Wright (brown-black belt)
received a bronze in lightweight, James Liggatt (orange belt) won gold in
welterweight, and Lisa Cross received a bronze in heavyweight. Overall a good
turn out, especially as it was Lisa's first competition and Debbie's first within
the  organisation.

ENGLISH CHAMPIONSHIPS - SUNDAY 17th MAY 2009

James Liggatt, orange belt, contended for the first time in the Adult Coloured-
Belt Sparring at the English Championships, which were held at Bath University.
He returned back to Totnes with a gold in welterweight in "point-stop".
Well done, James!

all worth it though, we left Tavistock all smiling.

The achievements are as follows:-
