Originally trained at the Scottish School of PE , and attaining a BA Degree, Lesley then went on to work in Leisure Centres in Glasgow, London and Devon. After gaining her Leisure Management Diploma at Exeter, she became Marketing Manager and Fitness Adviser in local centres. She is trained in childrens fitness and qualified in various other Fitness related areas and sports coaching. Her first sport was rowing where she reached international level, representing Scotland, and winning atNational events. She also officiated at therowing events at the Edinburgh based 13th Commonwealth Games, known as 'The friendly Games.'
When she moved to Devon she started Taekwon-do, and in this time has become a Fully Qualified Instructor, opened up schools in Totnes, Kingsbridge, Dartmouth, South Brent, Broadhempston and Malborough..jpg)
1998 she represented England in the World championships.
2000 she was honoured to take part in a training seminar with the Founder of Taekwon-do, Major General Choi, 9th Degree, and was even more privileged to be personally invited to dine with him and the PUMA founders during the inauguration of PUMA.
In 2003 she was part of the Gold winning Black Belt Ladies Team Patterns, British Black Belt Ladies Individual Patterns Champion, and also gained her 3rd Degree with a Credit and was awarded the overall Grading Award.
In 2005 she travelled to Atlantic City to train with the ITF President and Taekwon-do founders son, President Choi, Jung Hwa 9th Degree, in celebration of 50 years of Taekwon-do.
Ms McGhie is also a 3rd Degree in Kick Boxing gaining her Instructors Certificate in 2007. The Totnes Kick Boxing School also started at the beginning of this year.
2007 also saw the ITF World Championships and World Open Championships held at Birmingham, with Lesley being selected to Umpire and officiate at this great event. 5 South Hams Taekwon-do Black Belts were also selected to represent their country in TEAM UK and one for TEAM France, with 5 coloured belts also taking part in the open championships. 10 medals were won from our small group of students, which makes it the South Hams Schools and Lesley's greatest achievements to date.
Lesley is also involved in her community, being parent governor at her sons school and being Vice-Chair within Sport South Hams.
Ms McGhie trains under Mr Chris Wood 5th Degree of the Plymouth Schools.
